Agenda

  • Standing sub-committees --Brian
Brian Passed out tentative Subcommittee membership lists. Chariman of the subcommittees will either volunteer or asked for by Brian. Brian asked for feedback and suggestions for possible other members or consulting adjuncts for specific subcommittees.
  • Issues currently to be considered by sub-committees:
  • Strategic Planning
1- Linux teaching lab -- Kamil
Most discussion tabled until next meeting since Kamil was not present. Brian asked for use cases to help support the need for such a facility. Prof  Rotkin suggested Prof Kritz in the Physics department and his course in Computational Methods.

1- Altair performance update -- Steve
Nothing to report as yet.
2- Application software licensing -- Kamil

4- Status of MPI installtions on Altair and Leaf machines -- Steve

Steve said that MPI and MPI-2 was usable from all machines now.

5- Cluster node problem repair workflow -- Steve

Steve said new images on the leaf nodes were being put in place on the new hardware and that the old egenera hardware would be taken offline. New nodes would be numbered Leaf 19-36.

Many new webpages and the rest have continuing updates refreshing information. Asked committee members to take a look and give feedback.
2- IBM Cell BE training followup -- Brandon
Very successful training took place. IBM is awaiting Lehigh's SUR grant submission now that we have users/researchers with IBM Cell BE technical training in-house.
3- Condor documentation for blaze/inferno -- Steve/Brandon/Liangjie
Progressing. Working on Submission from public sites. Working with SNA to make this possible from Leaf machines and public space PC's without the need for and Enhanced Level 2 account.
